How to Tell If Your Lift Height Is Too High

Step Rite Shoe Lifts

A lift that is too high can make you feel tipped toward the other side, load the opposite hip, or make the lifted foot land flat and hard. Tell your clinician what you notice; if they lower the number, we lower the lift on the same shoe.

Three signs

You feel tipped toward the side without the lift. The hip on the side without the lift starts aching. The lifted foot slaps down instead of rolling.

Why it happens

The measurement was taken early after surgery and the body has since settled. A staged correction went up faster than the body adjusted. Or the first number was simply a little high.

What to do

Describe it to your clinician and get remeasured. One customer wrote to us after a year at 3 cm asking to drop to 2 cm on her physical therapist's advice; the same shoes came back at the new height.

Send us the shoe that needs a lift.

Order the lift, we send a prepaid shipping label, we install the lift and ship it back. Two to three days in the lab, shipping included.
